Chris Karwacinski, from London, has always had a passion for all aspects of violin playing. Especially in chamber ensembles and orchestral playing.  

Chris is enjoying a wide-ranging career in orchestral playing, performing consistently with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Hallé, Manchester Camerata, Opera North and Sinfonia Viva. Chris has performed at many leading venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, the Sage Gateshead, Symphony Hall Birmingham, and the Bridgewater Hall. 

In addition to his work as second violinist of the Aestus Quartet, Chris is also a member of Duo Aerius, a successful violin and guitar duo playing many concerts across the north of England.

Chris recently completed his Postgraduate Diploma on the Hallé Advanced Orchestral Artistry Programme at the Royal Northern College of Music, in the class of James Clark. Chris previously studied at RNCM on the Quartet Studio Programme 2023-24, class of  Catherine Yates and Master’s of Music programme 2021-23, class of Benedict Holland. He has a diverse academic background also holding a Bachelor’s degree in Pure Mathematics at King’s College London.

Chris is also a tuba player, having been principal tuba of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and solo E-flat of championship section band, Redbridge Brass. Chris was also a member of the England Karate Team for many years, from the age of 13-25, before pursuing a career in music.

Chris currently plays a 1847 Giovanni Dollenz violin which is generously loaned to him by the RNCM.
